Privacy Policy
Effective date: 15 July 2026
CalmClick helps you understand confusing things on your screen — suspicious texts, odd bills, scary pop-ups — by explaining a photo you take in plain language. This policy explains, in the same plain language, what information the app handles and what happens to it.
The short version
- CalmClick has no accounts, no sign-in, no advertising, and no tracking.
- The app never monitors your phone. It never reads your messages, email, calls, contacts, or location. It only sees a photo you deliberately take or choose.
- Your results and history are stored only on your device. We run no servers that store your data.
- A photo you check is sent securely to an AI service (OpenAI) once, only to be analyzed, is not used to train AI models, and is deleted by that service after a short safety-review period (up to 30 days under OpenAI's API policy).
What information the app handles
1. Photos you choose to check
When you tap the button and take a photo (or pick one from your library), that photo is sent over an encrypted connection, through our relay server, to OpenAI's API, which reads the image and produces the explanation you see. This is the only moment any data leaves your phone.
- Our relay server does not store your photo — it passes it along and returns the answer.
- OpenAI processes the photo to generate the explanation. Under its API terms, content is not used to train AI models and is retained for up to 30 days for abuse monitoring, then deleted. You can read more in OpenAI's own policies.
- A copy of the photo may be saved on your device together with the result, so you can look back at it. You can delete it at any time.
2. Results and history
Explanations you choose to save ("checks") are stored only on your device. You can delete any check with a swipe, export your checks yourself, or turn on Auto-clear history to remove checks older than 30 days automatically. If you delete the app, this data is deleted with it.
3. Follow-up questions
If you ask a follow-up question about a result, the question is sent to the same AI service to be answered, under the same rules as photos: encrypted, not used for training, deleted after the safety period.
4. Trusted contact and profile details
If you (or a family member) add a name, language preference, or a trusted person's phone or email in the app, those details are stored only on your device. They are never uploaded anywhere. Calling or texting your trusted person happens through your phone's normal Phone and Messages apps.
5. What we don't collect
- No analytics or usage tracking of any kind.
- No advertising identifiers, no third-party trackers.
- No location, contacts, messages, call logs, or browsing history.
- No account — we couldn't tie data to you even if we wanted to.
Permissions the app asks for
- Camera — only to take the photo you want checked. iOS asks for your consent first, and you can change it any time in Settings.
- Photo library — only when you choose to upload an existing screenshot, using Apple's picker, which shares only the photo you select.
Children
CalmClick is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update this page and the effective date above. Significant changes will be described in the app's update notes.
