Terms of Service

Effective 18 August 2026 · Last updated 18 August 2026

These terms cover your use of the Mealog iPhone app and this website. Using Mealog means you accept them; if you do not, please do not use the app.

1. What Mealog is

Mealog estimates the nutritional content of a meal from a photo, a spoken description or typed text, and keeps a log of those estimates for you.

Mealog is not medical, dietary or nutritional advice. The numbers it produces are AI estimates, not measurements. Do not rely on them for any medical decision — including insulin dosing, managing an allergy, a clinical diet or treating any condition. If a decision about your health depends on precise nutrition, weigh and verify your food and speak to a doctor or a registered dietitian.

2. Accuracy

Estimates are generated by an AI model from limited information: a photo cannot show what is inside a sauce, and a spoken sentence cannot convey a portion size precisely. Accuracy varies with the dish, the lighting, the angle and how typical the recipe is. Every entry is editable, and correcting an entry is the intended way to make your log reflect what you actually ate.

3. Your responsibility

4. Your content

Your photos, recordings and entries remain yours. You grant only the narrow permission needed to run the service: to transmit and process that content to produce your estimate, as described in the Privacy Policy. No ownership passes to us, and your content is never used to promote the app or train models on our behalf.

5. Purchases and subscriptions

Mealog is free to try. Where a paid plan is offered, it is sold through Apple's App Store: Apple takes the payment, applies its own terms, and manages renewals. Manage or cancel a subscription in your Apple ID settings — cancelling in the app alone does not stop billing. Refunds are handled by Apple under its refund policy.

6. Third-party services

Mealog depends on OpenAI for AI analysis, Vercel for the pass-through backend, and Apple for distribution and payment. Their terms apply to their parts of the service, and an outage on their side can interrupt Mealog.

7. Availability and changes

Mealog is provided as it is, without a guarantee of uninterrupted or error-free operation. Features may be added, changed or withdrawn, and the app may be discontinued. Keep an export of any log you would not want to lose.

8. Limitation of liability

To the extent Swiss law allows, liability for indirect or consequential damages arising from use of Mealog is excluded — including damages relating to inaccurate estimates, dietary choices, allergic reactions or other health outcomes, and lost data. Liability for death, personal injury caused by negligence, intent or gross negligence, and any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, is unaffected.

9. Termination

You may stop using Mealog at any time by deleting the app. Access may be suspended where these terms are being breached in a way that harms the service or other users.

10. Governing law

Swiss law governs these terms, and the courts at the operator's domicile in Switzerland have jurisdiction. If you use Mealog as a consumer, the mandatory protections of your country of residence still apply to you.

11. Changes to these terms

Updated terms appear on this page with a new date. Continuing to use Mealog after that means you accept them.
